About

The Romanian mezzo-soprano Ramona Zaharia studied at the Academy "George Enescu". She has won numerous national and international competitions. Her repertoire includes such roles as Gianetta (Donizetti "L'elisir d'amore"), Alisa (Donizetti "Lucia di Lammermoor"), Flora Bervoix (Verdi "La Traviata"), Zita (Puccini "Gianni Schicchi"), Mercedes (Bizet's "Carmen"), Marthe (Gounod's "Faust"), Prince Orlofsky (Strauss "Die Fledermaus"), Principessa di Bouillon (Cilea "Adriana Lecouvreur") or Eliza Doolittle (Loewe, "My Fair Lady").

She has performed numerous roles at the Opera of Timisoara. In summer 2012, she made her debut as Carmen at the Festival of St. Margaret. From the season 2014/15 she has been a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein where she sings Carmen, 3d Lady (Mozart „Die Zauberflöte“), Maddalena (Verdi „Rigoletto), Ulrica (Verdi „Un ballo in maschera“), Dinah (Bernstein „Trouble in Tahiti“), Eboli (Verdi „Don Carlo“), Flosshilde and Erda (Wagner „Das Rheingold“),Amneris (Verdi „Aida“) and Santuzza (Mascagni „Cavalleria rusticana“). In season 2015/2016 she sang Federica di Ostheim (Verdi „Luisa Miller“) in in Stuttgart and Hamburg. Ramona Zaharia sings Carmen also in Staatsoper Stuttgart, Latvian National Opera and National Opera of Bukarest. Her future engagements include Metropolitan Opera in New York. 

In season 18/19 she performs at Metropolitan Opera in New York and Malmö Opera (Maddalena - "Rigoletto"); Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Duisburg and Düsseldorf (3rd Dame - "Die Zauberflöte"; Floßhilde - "Das Rheingoldand Götterdämmerung"; Eboli - "Don Carlo"; Santuzza - "Cavalleria rusticana"; Erda - "Das Rheingold").
