Grand Flamenco Gala - A journey through the heart of flamenco.

Gran Gala Flamenco is the only flamenco show in Barcelona that transports the viewer to a journey through different "sticks" of flamenco, rhythmic patterns such as the  "bulería" , festive and cheerful,  "solea"  solemn and intense,  "alegría"  dynamic and unfolded, “tango” resonating and rhythmic, “guajira” , “farruca” …).

In this flamenco show, the spectator will discover the intensity of the passion of the gypsy people through time and get to know the new generation of flamenco artists in Barcelona.

Gran Gala Flamenco has the musical direction of  Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” , one of the most important guitarists in current flamenco and one of the most prolific and interesting composers of the last generations of Spanish artists.

With his flamenco guitar  "Chicuelo"  he has accompanied singers such as Enrique Morente, Maite Martin, Miguel Poveda, Duquende, José Mercè, Diego El Cigala, Carmen Linares, among other great artists. He works and composes music for the companies of renowned flamenco dancers such as Israel Galván, Sara Baras, Antonio Canales, Eva la Yerbabuena, Belen Maya and Javier Latorre. He has also worked with jazz musicians such as Marco Mezquida, Chano Domínguez, Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Joan Albert Amargos and has collaborated with classical pianist Maria João Pires.

In 2013, Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” won the main prize of his career, the Goya Award for Best Original Song for the theme of the film Snow White “I Can’t Find You”. He currently has three solo CDs: Cómplices (2000), Diapasión (2007), Uña y Carne (2019). The first two have received the award for best album of the year by Flamenco critics.

Gran Gala Flamenco  is a unique flamenco show, an alternation of sensations, rhythms and movements that define flamenco art, declared by UNESCO in 2010 as  “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” .

On display throughout the year at the  Palau de la Música  (the only modernist concert hall declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) and at the  Teatre Poliorama  on the Ramblas in Barcelona, ​​the Gran Gala Flamenco show offers the perfect union between heart and soul. music and dance, passion and rhythm.
