Russian-born Elena Bonnay is a graduate of the Moscow Gnessin Academy of Music (Malinina class). Since 1983, she has been pianist-conductor for the Paris Opera Ballet. Her career is divided between her work at the Opera, where she accompanies dance throughout the piano repertoire, and her creations of contemporary works (M. Constant, P. Sciortino, P. Hersant, G. Beytelmann, P Glass, etc.). She has toured with the Ballet as a solo pianist in the United States, China, Japan and Brazil. Inspiring a spiritual dimension to dance, its musicality and showmanship have been recognized by many choreographers (M. Béjart, R. Nureyev, J. Neumeier, B. Wilson, A. Preljocaj, M. Kelemenis, etc.) as well as by the soloists and stars of the Paris Opera.

At the Opera, Elena Bonnay plays regularly with recognized orchestras. She has performed Bach Concerti, Tchaikowski's Concerto No. 3 (National Orchestras of Peking and Ferrara), Mozart Concerti (San Francisco Orchester, Tokyo Philharmonic, London Chamber Music Orchestra, Orchestra of the Opéra national de Paris). She also participates in numerous chamber music concerts with the soloists of the Paris Opera Orchestra or musicians such as T. Papavrami, S. Rouseev, G. Capuçon, etc.

Passionate about world music, she is part of the Quinquet Nuevo Tango "Tangamente" and performs in France and abroad with the bandoneonist and accordionist Max Bonnay.
