About
The Choir of the Polish Royal Opera (currently known as Zespół Wokalny Polskiej Opery Królewskiej, until the end of 2017 — Chór Polskiej Opery Królewskiej) performs choral parts in stage and concert versions of operas, oratorios and other vocal and instrumental works. This ensemble, consisting of 12-24 people, includes talented and qualified vocalists — graduates of music universities with extensive concert and stage experience. The ensemble's repertoire includes works from different eras, including works by such composers as Claudio Monteverdi, George Frideric Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as works by Stanislav Moniuszko and Jozef Elsner and modern compositions by Wlodek Pawlik. The choir of the Polish Royal Opera performs under the direction of the conductor Karol Knapsky
The Polish National Opera, founded in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture and Cultural Heritage, was created to meet the demand for a chamber opera house. Ryszard Peret was the first CEO, followed by Andrzej Klimczak, and Magdalena Kazorowska currently holds this position, having worked at the theater since its inception.
The opera operates on three pillars: new productions of ancient operas, in particular Baroque and classical works; the revival of the Polish repertoire; the organization of concerts in which both ancient and modern works are performed. It employs a team of outstanding artists and invites the best musicians from Poland and abroad.
A key initiative is the Opera on Tour program, which allows for high-quality cultural performances in remote areas. The opera is also the venue for three festivals: the annual summer festival in July, the Music of the King Festival, which started in 2019, and the Baroque Festival, which has been held since 2021.
