Meeting at the Pavilion is a large-scale Chinese dance drama inspired by the legendary love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, known around the world as the "Butterfly Lovers." One of the Four Great Folktales of China, this timeless romance has been retold for centuries through opera, literature, music, and dance.

The production follows Zhu Yingtai, a young woman who disguises herself as a man in order to pursue an education. During her studies, she forms a deep friendship with Liang Shanbo, who remains unaware of her true identity. As their bond grows into love, the couple faces family opposition and an arranged marriage that ultimately separates them. After Liang's untimely death, Zhu chooses to join him in death, and according to the legend, the lovers are transformed into a pair of butterflies, symbolizing eternal love and freedom.
