Founded in September 2015, the Beijing Chinese Orchestra is an important performing arts group in Beijing affiliated to the Beijing Performance & Arts Group, formerly known as the Beijing Dance Drama & Opera Chinese Orchestra, which was established about 30 years ago.
So far, the Beijing Chinese Orchestra has produced and staged a series of wonderful concerts including the Beijing-style concert Ancient and Modern Feelings of Beijing, Why are the Flowers so Red Chinese Music Masterpiece Concert, Hawthorn Tree Foreign Classics Concert, Exotic Customs Minority Music Concert, China-West Dialogue Chinese-style Western Music Concert, Mulan Movement Large-scale New Folk Music Concert, Beijing Tone Chinese Music Concert, Golden Dragon New Folk Music Concert, Ode to Spring Large-scale Chinese Symphony Concert and Five Elements Large-scale Multimedia Scene Music Concert. The Orchestra has trained a big group of outstanding traditional Chinese music performers such as WEN Bo, SU Min, JIANG Jingfeng, LI Changjun, LI Meng, BI Ke, LIN Fuguo, ZHAO Taisheng, JIANG Xiaodong, SONG Yibo, WEI Jing, NING Yingjie, WANG Jingjing, FAN Yuanyuan and YU Haiyin.
The Beijing Chinese Orchestra has given important performances in many major political and foreign activities, such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Beijing APEC Summit. It has also been to the USA, France, Japan, South Korea, Belgium, Switzerland and Monaco, etc. many times with central and municipal cultural delegations for cultural exchanges, winning wide acclaim.
