Barblina Meierhans studied composition, violin, viola, new music theatre and transdisciplinarity at Zurich and Bern University of the Arts and Dresden University of Music. She has been inspired in her composition method by Mark Andre, Manos Tsangaris, Franz Martin Olbrisch, Françoise Rivalland, Daniel Weissberg and Xavier Dayer.
Mainly, her works have been played in Germany and Switzerland, sometimes also in Poland, the UK, Denmark, Italy, India, South Corea, Argentina, and were part of i.a. Lucerne Festival, Spor Festival, Rümlingen Festival, Kammer Klang London, mikromusik Berlin, Ultraschall Berlin, Wittener Tagen für neue Kammermusik, Festival Archipel Geneva, Festival Internacional de Musica Tacec, New Talents Biennale Cologne, Kyung Hee University Seoul, Akademie der Künste Berlin, Sächsische Akademie der Künste and Tonlagen Festival Dresden.
She has received several awards i.a. Förderpreis für junge Komponisten und Musikwissenschaftler dkv Leipzig, the City of Zurich’s Foreign Studio Scholarship Berlin (Auslandatelier-Stipendium Berlin), studio residency in Bangalore and New Delhi by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, studio residency in Rome by Canton of St.Gallen, scholarship at the NAIRS Contemporary Art Center, and the Canton of Bern’s Trächsel scholarship BEST.
For some time past, Barblina Meierhans became involved on different leves in the fields of teaching and artistic research, and has given workshops.
