Soaring arias, dynamic choreography, and a visionary score converge to celebrate courage, compassion, justice, and wisdom.Experience 'Ecstasy of the Virtues,' a groundbreaking opera produced by Mahogany Opera. Libretto by Ebizie and a lush new score from composer Horrocks-Hopayian intertwine with dramaturgy by Amini and Bowler, while directors Lee and Simon craft a narrative arc of conflict and resolution. Choreographers Watson and Minamimura animate the four cardinal virtues through expressive movement, and soloists Nyandoro, Soul Zisso, Agor, and Arriola Bagayas deliver stirring arias, supported by ensemble contributions from Chinen, Cornelius, Jackson, and da Luz Ghoumrassi. Set against a minimalist backdrop and bathed in elemental light, the production merges baroque-inspired strings with subtle electronic textures to explore themes of fortitude, temperance, justice, and prudence. From the first whispered refrain to the triumphant chorus in the finale, ’Ecstasy of the Virtues’ offers a transcendent celebration of human strength and unity.
