Overview

The Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra awaits you at the Palace Orangery where Mozart himself performed in 1786. The concert is a fine selection of masterful music by Mozart and Strauss, rounded off by dance and vocal performances.

In the first part, you will listen to some of the most marvelous overtures, arias and duets from the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. "Le Nozze di Figaro", "Die Zauberflöte" and "Don Giovanni" to name a few. The most popular operetta arias, waltzes and polkas of the "Walzerkoenig" Johann Strauss - from "Die Fledermaus" and "Der Zigeunerbaron" to "Donauwalzer" and the famous "Radetzkymarsch" - comprise the second part. The orchestra is accompanied by two opera singers, a soprano and a baritone, and by two ballet-dancers.

In the revitalized Schönbrunn Orangery, where Mozart himself once played, the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra awaits you for an enchanting concert with selected works by Mozart and Strauss, accompanied by singing.

Since 1997, the Schönbrunn Palace concerts have established themselves as a fixed part of Viennese cultural and musical life. In the traditional Schönbrunn Orangery in Vienna, the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra and the Schönbrunn Palace Ensemble present the most beautiful melodies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss with a concert program that changes every day.

Schoenbrunn Palace - Vienna
Location   Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 47

Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna’s most magnificent landmarks and one of Europe’s finest Baroque palace complexes. Once the summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family, Schönbrunn combines grand architecture, elegant interiors and an extensive formal park, creating an extraordinary setting where history and culture come together.

The palace reached its present form in the 18th century under Empress Maria Theresa, who transformed it into an imposing imperial residence. Its richly decorated state rooms reflect the splendour of the Habsburg court, while the palace gardens extend across broad landscaped grounds crowned by the impressive Gloriette, offering panoramic views over Vienna.

Schönbrunn is also closely associated with music and performance. The palace and its historic grounds provide an atmospheric setting for concerts featuring the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Strauss and other composers closely connected with Vienna’s musical heritage. Performances here acquire a distinctive character from their surroundings, combining classical music with the grandeur of an imperial residence.

The palace complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains one of Austria’s most visited cultural attractions. Beyond its ceremonial rooms, visitors can explore the gardens, the Gloriette, the Orangery and other historic spaces, making a visit to Schönbrunn as much a journey through the history of the Habsburg era as a cultural experience.

For lovers of classical music, Schönbrunn offers something particularly memorable: the opportunity to experience Vienna’s musical tradition in the magnificent surroundings of the former imperial summer residence. The combination of Baroque architecture, landscaped gardens and the city’s enduring concert culture makes Schönbrunn one of Vienna’s most atmospheric cultural destinations.
