About

Riccardo Zanellato studied voice with Arrigo Pola and specialised with Bonaldo Giaiotti. He also obtained a diploma in Guitar at the Music Conservatory in Adria (Italy). He won the "Iris Adami Corradetti" and the "A. Belli" competitions.

At the beginnings of his career he appeared on numerous prestigious international stages: Berlin Staatsoper, Opéra Bastille in Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Helsinki Opera, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Massimo in Palermo. 

Amongs his past engagements it is worth mentioning: Aida at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa; Tancredi at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste; Lucia di Lammermoor (Raimondo) in Wiesbaden and Macerata; Massenet's Le Roi de Lahore, La Juive and Wolf-Ferrari's The Cunning Widow at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Nabucco (Zaccaria) in Wiesbaden, Copenaghen, Bologna, Parma; Verdi's Requiem in Washington; Guglielmo Tell (Walter Furst) conducted by Alberto Zedda in La Coruña; Ifigenia in Tauride (Thoas) and Le Nozze di Figaro in Valencia; Luisa Miller in Barcelona; La Sonnambula (Il Conte Rodolfo) at the Opéra de Montréal; Iphigénie en Aulide at Teatro dell'Opera in Rome; I Puritani (Sir Giorgio) at the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam and in Cagliari; Il Trovatore (Ferrando) at the Théâtre Municipal de Lausanne; and Rigoletto at the Opéra Royale de Wallonie in Liège, on tour in France and at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome.

Mr. Zanellato performed Moise et Pharaon (Osiride), Nabucco, Macbeth and Simon Boccanegra under the baton of Riccardo Muti in Rome; La Forza del Destino (Padre Guardiano) in Vilnius and under Gianluigi Gelmetti in Parma; Luisa Miller in Lyon and in Bilbao; and Mosè in Egitto (Mosé) at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Lucia di Lammermoor at the Settimane Musicali in Stresa; Rossini's Stabat Mater in San Remo; Verdi's Requiem in Naples conducted by Riccardo Muti; Verdi's Requiem at the Verdi Festival in Parma under Yuri Temirkanov and in Vilnius with Violeta Urmana, Poliuto and La Bohème at the Opernhaus Zurich; Norma at the Terme in Caracalla; Anna Bolena in Munich. 

Mr Zanellato made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala singing Aida, and he has just performed at the Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia in Rome, Antonio Pappano conducting. Riccardo Zanellato returns to Rome singing Nabucco at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, opera he then sang in Leipzig and Stuttgart. 

Mr. Zanellato starred as Banco in Macbeth at the opening night season at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Roberto Abbado conducting and Bob Wilson directing; Nabucco in Rovigo and Verdi's Requiem in Portorico, in Bologna then in Moscow at the Rostropovich Festival and in Barcelona.

Prestigious engagements follow: Nabucco in Florence, Norma in Cagliari; Schubert Mass in Chicago Riccardo Muti conducting; Verdi's Requiem in Cincinnati, in St. Louis and Vienna; Il Trovatore at the Salzburg Festival; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Padua; Nabucco in Stuttgart; I Puritani and Verdi's Requiem under Daniele Gatti in Florence; Turandot at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Verdi's Requiem in Minnesota under Roberto Abbado, more recently at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. 

He sang Ferrando in Il Trovatore at the Salzburg Festival besides Placido Domingo under Daniele Gatti, then he performed Giorgio in Bellini’s I Puritani and Lucia di Lammermoor Florence, Simon Boccanegra in Dresden, Timur in Turandot in Naples, Norma and La Bohème in Turin, revivals of Macbeth in Bologna, Norma in Paris and a Gala concert for the 5th Anniversary of the Guangzhou Opera House in China.

More recently he sang: Verdi’s Attila in the title role again in Bologna Daniele Abbado directing and Michele Mariotti conducting; Aida a Valencia; Rigoletto at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Nabucco in Kiev and Bruckner’ s Te Deum in Bari; Macbeth in Tel Aviv; Beethoven 9th Symphony in St. Denis with the Orchestre National de France and Aida in Naples.

Future plans include: Rossini’s Stabat Mater di Rossini in Tanglewood; Verdi’s Requiem with the Berliner Philarmoniker under Riccardo Chailly in Berlin; Nabucco in Stuttgart; Don Carlo in Genoa and Leizpig; Gala concert under Riccardo Muti in Chicago with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
