55049, Province of LuccaThe New Great Open Air Theatre has been inaugurated on May 15th 2008 in Torre del Lago Puccini.
The Parco della Musica of Giacomo Puccini and the New Great Open Air Theatre together, have been projected to be one of the most important centre for culture, and represent with no doubts, one of most remarkable project of last decades in Tuscany. They arise from a unique case consisting in using old areas and places one time dedicated to industry, in order to create places connected to music, performances and contemporary art, to safeguard and increase the value of such places where one of the most important composers of music history, usually found his inspiration.
The new theatre is located inside an area of 245.000 mq, delimited by the Massaciuccoli lake, the piazzale Belvedere (in front of Villa Puccini) and the small village of Torre del Lago.
The new theatre area covers a surface of 6.600 mq, where the arena capacity is 3.200 and the Auditorium's 495 spectators. It is made of cement, wood and crystal and provided with high quality, sophisticated technologies.
