A futile escape from fate and a disillusioned rescue unfold in two Peking opera stories.
In Xiangmei Temple, the monk Liaokong learns of his impending death, but hiding in the withered tree in front of the gate cannot save him. In Capturing and Releasing Cao Cao, Chen Gong frees Cao Cao, then leaves him after Cao Cao's killings. Announced performers include Ge Yubo and Qiu Shi and others. Performed by Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing as part of the Guocui Jixiang series. Performed in Chinese.
