Overview

Love and youthful rebellion challenge the old order inside the Gao family home.

Adapted from Ba Jin's novel and Cao Yu's play, this Pingju production follows three brothers under the rule of the Gao patriarch. Forced marriages, Mingfeng's death and Ruijue's tragic childbirth fracture the household, while Juehui leaves to join the revolution.

Performed in Chinese by China Pingju-Opera Theatre as part of its Jixiang Blossoms showcase of classic repertoire.
