Overview

Family conflict, separation and a legendary outlaw take the stage in a programme of three Pingju pieces.

Liu Yun’s wife devises a painful lesson to stop his abuse of his mother. The Vermilion Mark follows a family torn apart by conscription and deceit. The Legend of Tuolong reworks an earlier play by Cheng Zhaocai about the outlaw Zhang Suzhen. The second and third pieces are excerpts.

China Pingju-Opera Theatre presents this three-piece programme in the Jixiang Blossoms showcase of classic repertoire. Performed in Chinese.
