Sälen
Located in the Dalarna County in Sweden, Sälen is one of the country's most popular destinations for winter tourism despite its small population. It has seven alpine ski resorts, the oldest of which was built in 1937 and is still open to the public today.
It is also known for hosting the start of Vasaloppet, which is the oldest, longest and largest cross country ski race in the world. If you're not a skier but still want to enjoy a snow-themed holiday then why not try snowmobiling or dogsledding, both sure to bring adrenaline-filled fun with a local touch. But Sälen is not only about snow and winter! Thanks to the availability of mountains and varied nature, summertime offers a number of outdoor activities for visitors such as mountain biking or packrafting.
