Overview

The best-loved theme songs of martial-arts dramas – from The Legend of the Condor Heroes to The Smiling, Proud Wanderer – played by Jinsheng Band with erhu, bamboo flute and electronic keyboard.

Jinsheng Band brings together players trained at leading music academies, with bowed strings, electronic keyboard and wind instruments. Its line-up pairs Chinese folk instruments with synthesizers, so familiar classics sound fresh. This programme features erhu player Liu Xiaotong, keyboardist Liu Jiayi and bamboo-flute player Lei Puyuan.

The concert is a journey through the world of wuxia – swordsmen, wandering knights and the romance of the jianghu. It revisits songs from the screen adaptations of Jin Yong's novels such as The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, The Legend of the Condor Heroes and The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, with Chinese and Western instruments giving a different voice to Swords Like a Dream, Hard-to-Recite Scripture and Laughing Once at the Vast Sea.
