Sheng Yuan is a pianist and early-keyboard performer whose work encompasses solo recitals, chamber music and historical instruments. He plays the harpsichord, clavichord and early piano, and teaches in the piano department of the Central Conservatory of Music.

His recordings include Bach on historical keyboards and Schumann on a piano from the composer's era. He has also studied Bach's keyboard music intensively and founded a music project for blind people.
