Zhao Muzi brings Chopin’s dancing rhythms, private reveries and sweeping musical narratives into focus in an all-Chopin piano recital devoted to the theme of homeland and distant places.
Zhao Muzi holds a master’s degree in piano performance from Yale University. His recital career spans Asia, North America and Europe, with appearances at Carnegie Hall and other venues; the organiser also lists first-prize wins at the Asian Chopin International Piano Competition and the Seattle International Piano Competition.
The programme is built around contrasts of national spirit, inward reflection and dramatic narrative. The 24 Preludes explore every major and minor key and include the familiar “Raindrop” Prelude, while the four Ballades offer different shades of pathos, poetry, tenderness and grandeur.
Every attendee needs their own ticket and reserved seat. Food and drink are not allowed in the hall; latecomers are admitted between pieces.
